Firenze Restaurant in Leicestershire


FIRENZE RESTAURANT IN LEICESTERSHIRE

Firenze is based in one of the most beautiful Leicestershire villages, Kibworth Beauchamp.

The owner Sarah Poli and his husband Lino are friendly people who love what they do and have a lot of passion about serving great food, great wines, in a relaxing atmosphere.

The Financial Times wrote "The Firenze is one of the finest Italian restaurants in England, with an immaculate, ever changing 'all Italian' wine list with food that reminds one of how food really should taste"

Over the year they hosted many gourmet evenings, where they match wines to menu, and enjoy the experience and knowledge of friends, colleagues, wine merchants and wine growers.

They hope that as they gather together like-minded food and wine lovers, they will grow a passion for all things indulgent, delight our taste buds, expand our knowledge, and hopefully have a good time along the way.

MENU OF VIVA LA SPAGNA IN THE RESTAURANT FIRENZE

On Thursday 3rd of November 201. The Firenze created the Viva La Spagna Diner with Pedro Urbina and Duncan Murray Wines.

Escalibada: marinated roasted peppers and aubergines.
Tigres: mussel croquettes.
Buñuelos: black pudding frittes.
Ajoblanco: almond soup.
Urbina Blanco 2008: Made from the Viura grape variety and is fermented and aged in stainless steel. Medium straw-coloured, it offers aromas of melon, apple and pear, whilst on the palate it is smooth-textured and lively with juicy citrus and peach flavours.

Arroz Negro: black rice with cuttlefish, squid and prawns.
Urbina Rosado 2009: Made from Tempranillo, and again fermented and aged in stainless steel in order to keep the fruits fresh. Pinkish-red in colour with a very plesant vibrant berry fruit aroma and flavour. Intense yet very smooth, with long aftertaste.

Jabali con Fabada: wild boar with white bean and chorizo stew.
Urbina Crianza 2005: A blend of 90 % Tempranillo and 10 % Graciano and Mazuelo, aged for 14 months in American oak, then a further 6 months in bottle before release. Medium crimson-coloured, this cheeky little number has an aromatic array of cedar, tobacco, spice box, cherry and black raspberry. On the palate it displays an elegant personality with ample spicy fruit, elegant tannins and a silky finish.
Urbina Seleccion 1999: Made from a selection of the very best old vine Tempranillo, Mazuelo and Graciano, which are also used to make the Reserva and Gran Reserva wines. The wine is aged for 16 months in oak barrels, is ruby red in colour with purple tones and has an intense aroma of berries, damsons and figs, while the palate is complex with flavours; it has mellow tannins and that typical Urbina elegance.

Manchego con Membrillo: manchego cheese with quince.
Urbina Reserva Especial 1998: Made from the very best old vine Tempranillo, Mazuelo and Graciano, this beauty has spent 12 months in new oak followed by another 12 months in 7 year old oak barrels, then a minimum of 12 months in bottle before release. Dark ruby colour with amber tones, it has aromas of seductive figs, apricots and a rich bouquet of spicy vanilla. A voluptuous mouthful of concentrated berry fruits, this is elegant and complex, with good concentrated ripe fruit and excellent length, a real classic

Torrija de Pan Caramelizada: caramelised bread pudding.
Urbina Gran Reserva 1996: Made from old vine Tempranillo, Graciano and Mazuelo. Aged for 24 months in oak and 48 months in bottle prior to release. Garnet-red colour, this wine has a gorgeous complex bouquet, splendid maturity and a harmonious blend of rich fruit and balanced oak. A velvet smoothness with an elegant and wondrous lengths. Not for sharing with the neighbours, unless you really really like them!

BODEGAS URBINA

Bodegas Urbina is a single estate winery which has enjoyed the dedication of four generations committed to the cultivation of their vineyards and the production of some of the best quality wines in Rioja.

This estate is situated in Cuzcurrita de Río Tirón, on the norh-western edge of DOC Rioja. It is area that produces wines with a great capacity for ageing and as such has an excellent production Reservas and Gran Reservas.

Bodegas Benito Urbina, a family-owned, Single Estate winery, has 75 hectares of vineyards, 65 of Tempranillo and 10 of Graciano, Mazuelo and Viura. Total production is about 400,000 bottles of Red Crianza, Reserva and Gran Reserva and 50,000 bottles of White and Rosé.

Four generations of the family have dedicated themselves to the cultivation of their vineyards and the production of wine. In 1975 the bodega began to age and bottle their own wine in order to retain the special characteristics of a small single estate. Their sole objective is the production of quality wines and has been achieved as the result of careful viticulture using traditional techniques, harvesting by hand and avoiding the use of weed killers and pesticides. The vines are grown in bush form and some are trained by cordon, with controlled yields not exceeding 4500 kilos/ha.

There has been a large investment in modern installations, stainless steel fermentation tanks and bottling plant. Harvesting by the Urbina staff and family ensures the maximum quality of grapes.
