Macrowine 2012 (Burdeos, Francia) Macrovision of Viticulture, Wine Making and Markets

MACROWINE 2012 (BURDEOS, FRANCIA)

MACROVISION OF VITICULTURE, WINE MAKING AND MARKETS

Macrowine 2012 will be held in Bordeaux (June 18-June 21, 2012). It is the fourth of a series of meetings (Reims, 2006 ; Montpellier, 2008 ; Torino, 2010) which have become increasingly popular.

Grapevine is one of the major fruit crops worldwide and the wine industry is one of the main components of the agrofood sector. Viticulture and enology also are at the basis of the economy of many and extended areas in the world due to their complex linkages with cultural, historical, artistic, and gastronomic values and activities.

Wine industry, like any other one, is at a crossroad between producers and consumers. Major changes occur at this crossroad, with the emergence of new consumers, the loss of traditional consumers, the need for environmental management, the effect of global climate change. In this context, Macrowine 2012 will attempt to reach a macrovision of wine industry and of its evolution. Starting from the markets and the consumers, it will also address the chemical composition of wines, the biochemical and physiological processes that affect this composition (oenology and viticulture), as well as the ways to deal with environmental challenges (grape protection, effects of climate and of vineyard management on disease and quality).

It will thus gather contributions from a wide range of areas covering agronomy, chemistry, genetics, molecular biology, plant pathology, systems biology, sensory analysis and social sciences….

Macrowine 2012 will be held in Bordeaux, one of the oldest and most famous wine making regions over the world, and a historical city acknowledged as part of UNESCO World Heritage.
