Molino de Palacios Restaurant (Peñafiel - Valladolid)

Castilian cuisine dishes, recipes with history, vintage wines, and repertoire of good home cooking makes "El Molino de Palacios" synonymous with fine Spanish dining, (Molino is Spanish for mill).

The restaurant is located in a privileged area of Penafiel, by the river, through a tunnel or bridge, in a converted 19th century mill. The restaurant has a traditional wood stove and 2 dining rooms with a total capacity for 140 people. The restaurant has a traditional decoration. Wooden beams sit above a butter-toned dining room with exposed stone walls. Diners sit on basic wooden chairs, at tables draped in white clothes.

El Molino de Palacios is famous for a variety of dishes, but their specialties are grilled Lechazo churro; chanterelles to the mill; mushrooms in season, small game in season, marinated turkey and partridge; Rice with rabbit or hare-range chicken; and homemade desserts.

Two rivers, one large and one small, have always determined the physiognomy of Penafiel. The Douro crosses the land from east to west and from south to north, with mills, orchards and bridges.

The origin of this Peñafiel Mill goes back at least to the 19th century, according to a letter preserved in the diocesan archive of Valladolid. Now in the XXI century and to the delight and enjoyment of the general public, "Molino de Palacios" was restorated into a restaurant and beautiful building in 1995.
